I’m Ms. Mint

I’m a wife, mama to the cutest one-year-old on the face of the planet, surfer, climber, canyoneer, professional photographer, small business owner, and general human about the world.

My history with money is, like many people’s, complicated. One thing that has remained consistent throughout my life is that regardless of how much money I had (or didn’t have) I always sought to find the most efficient way to use it. I’ve always been a saver, even when I wasn’t sure what I was saving for.

I started my first business when I was 11 (I had a babysitting and house cleaning business), but my first legitimate business was started in 2009. From there it took me years of working for someone else to figure out how to begin working for myself full-time. I finally leaped in 2016.

My first photography business was my only income for 2 years of vanlife, and it is still a part of my diversified income stream today. In 2018, I added another photography brand to the portfolio which began netting 6 figures in less than 2 years.

In 2021, my husband and I started another brand that involves his expertise in athletics. That business began netting 6 figures in 3 years.

In 2022, I began this blog- Minted Freedom. We are not currently Financially Independent, but we are Coast FI! Learn your way through the process with us.

Mr. Mint

Mr. Mint wanted his moniker to be Sir Farts A Lot and for this website to be called fartingtofreedom.com. Alas, cooler heads prevailed and it stays Minted Freedom.

Mr. Mint is a 34 year old father to a one year old, a husband, Olympian, surfer, mountain biker, weightlifter, environmentalist, DIYer, business owner, and track and field coach. He double-majored in Economics and Geoscience, however he likes to say he triple-majored in Economics, Geoscience and Track and Field.

He specifically chose to list his profession last because he doesn’t like that the first thing that everyone seems to want to know is “what do you do for a living.”

How it began…

I will write this story later

By the numbers

I love transparency when it comes to money because I’m always super interested in how much other people make, spend, and save. But after growing an Instagram following circa 2011-2018 I realized that vague anonymity was much better than putting myself completely out there. Also, Mr. Mint prefers that.
